HUNTSVILLE, Ala. Abaco Systems has announced the PNIC1G, the company's latest PCI Mezzanine Card (PMC) designed to offer a range of new options to customers, expaning the company's network interface card portfolio.

According to the company, the PNIC1G is intended to deliver a path to upgrade legacy systems through a drop-in replacement featuring technology including the Intel I210 Ethernet Controllers. This could provide a longer lifespan for legacy products and eliminate the need for costly upgrades.

Officials also claim that this ethernet controller allows the PCI mezzanine card to operate using lower power. The solution is fully rugged and designed to be suitable for defense, aerospace, industrial, or commercial industries.

The card offers front or rear IO options and either 2x or 4x ports on front IO versions. The 4x ports available on the densest versions of the PNIC1G are intended to pack the highest number of ports into the available space without compromising on performance or efficiency resulting in minimal size, weight, and power consumption (SWaP).
