Avionics technologyís depth and breadth has risen to an all-time high, leaving Orville and Wilbur Wrightís comparatively basic flying machine technology in the proverbial dust. Though the brothersí 1903 flight made history and serves as the basis of modern flight, that historic day would have undeniably occurred sooner had the Wright brothers had access to myriad embedded wares used today by Boeing, NASA, and others. One such technology is the XMC form factor, which was recently incarnated once again by GE Intelligent Platforms in the form of its RXMC-1553 high-density, rugged MIL-STD-1553 XMC module. Ideal for avionics testing and simulation applications, the module provides 100 percent monitoring for fully loaded buses. Additionally, the conduction-cooled RXMC-1553 has either one or two channels. Each channel features 1 MB memory and is designed to flexibly accommodate MIL-STD-1553 A/B Notice II applications. RXMC-1553 also features multifunction interfaces that can work via a simultaneous bus controller, along with bus monitor functionality and up to 31 remote terminals. On the other hand, single-function interfaces do everything that the multifunction interfaces do; however, each major operational mode must operate one at a time. The RoHS compliant module also renders 45-bit microsecond message time tagging, error injection/detection, automatic/manual RT status bit and mode code responses, and an IRIG-B signal receiver/generator with GPS synchronization.

  • High-density MIL-STD-1553 XMC combines high performance with I/O flexibility
  • Choice of one or two dual-redundant channels
  • RoHS compliant
  • Advanced API for faster time to market
  • VxWorks and Windows support
  • Designed to provide unparalleled error detection and 100% monitoring of fully loaded buses
  • RoHS-compliant
  • Either one or two dual-redundant channels, each of which is supported by 1 MB of memory, and is conductively cooled for deployment in harsh environments
  • A conformally coated version is also available
  • Time to market is significantly reduced by the provision of the source code of an advanced API for both Windows XP/2000/NT and Wind River's VxWorks
  • For customers requiring access to the XMC's 1553 functionality without the need to develop software, GE Intelligent Platforms' BusTools/1553 bus analysis, simulation, and data logging/monitoring solution is available
  • Multifunction interfaces are easily configured to operate with simultaneous Bus Controller, up to 31 Remote Terminals and Bus Monitor functionality
  • Single-function RXMC-1553 interfaces have all the features and functionality of the multifunction versions, but only one major operational mode is enabled at a time
  • Each interface can emulate either a Bus Controller or up to 31 Remote Terminals or a Bus Monitor
  • Standard features of the RXMC-1553 include 45-bit, microsecond message time tagging, triggers, extensive BC & RT link-list structures, error injection/detection, IRIG-B signal receiver/generator with GPS synchronization, automatic/manual RT status bit and mode code responses, along with advanced BC functionality
  • Avionics low and high side discrete channels, RS-485 differential discrete channels, or programmable I/O are factory configurable options
