Wearable sensor system for military toxins exposure wins defense contract

VALENCIA, California. Intelligent biosensor/digital health provider PercuSense has won a contract worth $4.6 million from the U.S. government's Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) and the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) to develop a continuous monitoring platform for warfighters that enables early detection of toxic chemical exposure.
Under the terms of the DTRA/DIU contract, PercuSense will leverage its continuous monitoring platform to create a field-deployable wearable system that can rapidly identify chemical exposure and provide real-time alerts to drive threat-reduction measures and treatment interventions.
The multiyear contract is aimed at developing a tailored system for military personnel and first responders that would employ specialized sensors to identify the consumption of toxins such as nerve agents, opioids, and mustard agents.
