LOS ANGELES. MilSource, the sole distributor for Techaya ruggedized switching and routing solutions in the U.S., announced that Techaya was selected by a leading defense systems integrator to provide its MILTECH 912 to implement advanced Ethernet switching and networking capabilities for a U.S. Army helicopter upgrade program.

The commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) part -- a rugged, managed Ethernet network switch with 12 triple-speed (10/100/1000) ports -- also will upgrade the helicopters with Layer 3 static routing, additional Layer 2 switching functionality including IP subnet-based WLANs, remote management functions, and additional quality of service support.

Ronen Isaac, general manager of MilSource, said of the deal: “The MILTECH 912 is an ideal product for both fixed-wing and rotary aerial vehicles,” said . “Its compact form factor, passive cooling, and MIL-STD compliance helps ensure that the product will stand up to the heat, vibration and electrical interference often found in these environments.”
