TUCSON, AZ. U.S. Army and Raytheon engineers finished the certification process for air worthiness release (AWR) of the TALON Laser-Guided Rocket (LGR) for use on the Apache AH-64D/E Attack helicopter. The AWR certification enables potential operational employment of the TALON weapon system on Army Apaches and Apaches that are part of international fleets.

A digital semi-active laser guidance and control kit, the TALON LGR was co-developed with the United Arab Emirates. It integrates directly on to the front of the 2.75-inch Hydra-70 unguided rockets.

TALON can be integrated without hardware or software modifications to the launcher or aircraft platform and also can be fired from any aircraft that fires 2.75-inch Hydra-70 unguided rockets utilizing the standard M260/261 launchers.
