Sonobuoy Capability contract extended for Ultra Electronics
GREENFORD, Middlesex. Ultra Electronics will continue to supply and produce sonobuoys for the Royal navy’s Merlin Mk2 Maritime Patrol helicopter fleet at its Command & Sonar Systems sonobuoy facility, based in Greenford, Middlesex. The contract extension is worth over an estimate $12 million (£9.7 million).
The Royal navy awarded Ultra Electronics the initial contract in 2015. Officials say, this contract extension will help the Royal navy to continue to maintain a persistent anti-submarine warfare surveillance capability against hostile submarines.
