Pentek releases 3U OpenVPX 52xxx board family

NEW JERSEY. Pentek has announced the 3U OpenVPX 52xxx family of Xilinx Virtex-6/7 FPGA-based software radio modules. The 52xxx boards are reduce cost by 20 percent and power by 15 Watts over Pentek’s 53xxx family of products, and support VPX REDI (VITA 48) with rugged and extended temperature options.

The 52xxx boards are equipped with preconfigured functions, and combine processing and data conversion for applications such as airborne communication transceivers, armored vehicle anti-Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), radar countermeasures, and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Signal Intelligence (SIGINT) and Communications Intelligence (COMINT) receivers. The 3U OpenVPX modules also support PCIe x4 over the VPX P1 connector.

"Our 52xxx OpenVPX products benefit from a parallel offering of functionally-equivalent PCI Express cards,” says Rodger Hosking, VP of Pentek, Inc. “This way, customers can jump-start their development effort in a low-cost desktop PC and then deploy 3U OpenVPX 52xxx boards in the final application system.”

52xxx boards are fully compatible with Pentek 53xxx 3U OpenVPX modules. The 52xxx family is available now in commercial or rugged packaging formats, with air- and conduction-cooled options. For more information, visit www.pentek.com.
