P-8A Poseidon aircraft flies with Advanced Airborne Sensor radar

NAVAL AIR STATION PATUXENT RIVER, Md. The U.S. Navy’s P-8A Poseidon aircraft completed its first flight with the APS-154 Advanced Airborne Sensor (AAS) radar configuration. The U.S. Navy, Raytheon, and Boeing worked together to achieve this milestone.
According to officials, the APS-154 AAS radar represents the next generation of maritime patrol and reconnaissance radars, which can provide military commanders battle-space situational awareness as an integrated Maritime Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance, and Targeting (ISR&T) asset.

It will replace the APS-149 Littoral Surveillance Radar System (LSRS) carried on specially modified P-3C Orion aircrafts.
