Northrop Grumman to deliver legacy radar F-16 replacement

BALTIMORE. Northrop Grumman has successfully completed all engineering and manufacturing development (EMD) design reviews for the AN/APG-83 Scalable Agile Beam Radar (SABR).

The AN/APG-83 includes fifth-generation capabilities and is the largest map available for the . The AN/APG-83 SABR is a replacement for F-16 radars, and was selected by for the U.S. and Taiwan Air Force F-16 upgrade programs.

’s AN/APG-83 SABR design enables ease of retrofit, without aircraft structural modifications or changes to the existing cooling and power systems in the F-16.

"Northrop Grumman is on track to deliver the first EMD radar hardware and software by year's end, which will be identical to the production radars," said Jeff Leavitt, VP of Combat Avionics Systems business unit, Northrop Grumman.
