New secure laptop computer from General Dynamics enables classified and unclassified data for government users
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. Engineers at General Dynamics C4 Systems released a new Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) secure laptop computer for government and agency workers. The TACLANE-MultiBook laptop is certified by the National Security Agency (NSA) to secure network communications to the Secret level and below.
The certification enables government, agency as well as state and local law enforcement and related organizations to now use the TACLANE-MultiBook. The laptop can operate simultaneously on classified and unclassified networks and securely on the public Internet. It also secures data stored in the computer’s solid-state drive using ProtecDR technology.
Before the TACLANE-MultiBook, multiple computers were needed to provide full separation of classified and unclassified information or connect to the commercial Internet and secure military and government networks.
To get the level of information security provided by the TACLANE-Multibook, users would need at least three or more information security devices, at double the cost of the new laptop, and still not have the MultiBook’s mobility, says Chris Marzilli, General Dynamics C4 Systems president.
Considered a Cryptographic High Valued Product (CHVP), the laptop has less stringent handling requirements than a controlled cryptographic device (CCI) and enables secure interoperability with U.S. government and military networks.
