Navy Sidewinder missile Block II contract awarded to Raytheon

TUCSON, Ariz. Raytheon won a Navy contract worth $39.6 million contract for AIM-9X Block II infrared-guided air-to-air missiles. The Block II missile has a redesigned fuze and new electronics among other enhancements to the Block I missile.

The AIM-9X Sidewinder is currently on the F-15 Eagle, F/A-18 Hornet, and F-16 Fighting Falcon.

The new award modifies an former contract announced earlier this year.
