Moog wins follow-ons with Northrop Grumman, Marine Corps

EAST AURORA, N.Y. Moog Space and Defense Group has garnered contracts with both Northrop Grumman and Saab Defense to support the U.S. Marine Corps AN/TPS-80 Ground/Air Task Oriented Radar (G/ATOR) program. G/ATOR is the first ground-based active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar to be developed by the U.S. Department of Defense.

Under the terms of the follow-on low-rate initial production (LRIP) contracts, Moog will provide a six-axis electromechanical motion control system that automatically levels the platform and elevates and rotates the radar array for efficient transport, rapid deployment, and precise operation. Moog will supply its motion-controller hardware directly to Northrop Grumman and subsystem integrator Saab.

Moog’s latest contract for the G/ATOR program comes after successful completion of LRIP lots 1 and 2. The G/ATOR supplies the U.S. Marine Corps with a single radar type that performs air surveillance, air defense, ground weapon locating, and air-traffic-control missions.
