WAYNE, N.J. Data Link Solutions (DLS), a joint venture between BAE Systems and Rockwell Collins, won an $18.5 million contract from the U.S. Navy Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) for the production of Multifunctional Information Distribution System (MIDS) Low Volume Terminals (LVT) for U.S. and Coalition Forces. The MIDS-LVT terminals will enable real-time data communications, navigation, situational awareness, and digital voice -- all in one jam-resistant and crypto-secured package.

This contract award includes MIDS-LVT Tactical Data Links Radios that support U.S. platforms such as the F/A-18, MH-60R, MH-60S, F-16, and Foreign Military Sales that include South Korea, Finland, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

MIDS-LVT will enable Link-16 capability at a low weight, volume, and cost. Link-16 delivers secure, high capacity real-time data communications, ultra high frequency (UHF) and line of sight (LOS) situational awareness and navigation, and in some instances, digital voice and TACAN.
