CHANTILLY, Va. Information-technology (IT) services company Perspecta Inc. received a $787 million contract extension from the U.S. Department of the Navy to continue to provide IT services. The award calls for Perspecta to continue providing services for an additional year, through September 2019.

Under the terms of the Next Generation Enterprise Network (NGEN) contract, Perspecta operates the Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI). NMCI -- the world’s largest intranet -- has approximately 300,000 seats representing 700,000 Navy and Marine Corps uniformed and civilian users, largely within the continental United States.

The Navy plans to transition to the next competition for delivering NMCI enterprise services, known as NGEN-R; this latest award will enable uninterrupted IT operation and network security until the Navy awards and begins work on the NGEN-R contracts.
