FAIRFAX, Va. The FAA has authorized Logos Technologies to begin flight-testing the Tactically Expandable Maritime Platform (TEMP) unmanned aerial system (UAS). The testing will be conducted in Rome, NY, at the Northeast UAS Airspace Integration Research Alliance (NUAIR) FAA UAS test site at the Oneida County Griffiss International Airport.

The TEMP UAS is a lightweight autonomous- and powered-flight-capable parafoil aircraft. Developed in parternship with Atair Aerospace, it is designed for a variety of missions, such as precision cargo delivery to inaccessible and remote areas to assist with emergency response situations.

The FAA certificate of authorization (COA) is the first step for TEMP to become the first UAS to be tested out of Griffiss International Airport (formerly Griffiss Air Force Base), with oversight provided by NUAIR.

"This is an important step for Logos Technologies in its development of powered parafoil platforms for both military and commercial applications," comments Dr. John Marion, president of Logos Technologies. "We're grateful to Rep. Hanna and our partners at the NUAIR for their wholehearted support that sets a great precedent for the future of UAS technology in New York State."

Testing is scheduled to begin in October 2014.
