Drone swarms, enhanced efficiency will drive military UAS market in next few years, study says

LONDON. Swarm technology is rising in popularity in the military drone or unmanned aerial system (UAS) market due to its cost efficiency and high capability for firepower, according to a new market report from The Business Research Company, "Military Drones Global Market Report 2019."

According to the report, the global military UAS market -- valued at about $12.1 billion in 2018 -- is expected to grow to $19.04 billion through 2022, at an annual growth rate of 12%.

Military UASs are used for such purposes such as border surveillance, battle-damage management, combat operations, communication, delivery, and antiterrorism weaponry; the report identifies major players in the military UAS market, including Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin, Boeing, AeroVironment, and General Atomics.
