ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill. The Common Infrared Countermeasures (CIRCM) system from Northrop Grumman demonstrated its capabilities on a UH-60M Black Hawk helicopter during a round of Army testing.

The flight test was conducted at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Ala.,, by the Redstone Test Center during a six-week period, after which the Northrop Grumman officials said it completed the entire government-designed test plan. The system demonstrated its performance effectiveness under intense aircraft environments such as turns, banks, flares, gunfire, clutter, rotor blades, multiple shots, and engine exhaust. It also demonstrated its performance capabilities against captive missile seekers.

The Northrop Grumman CIRCM system is a lightweight, laser-based countermeasure system. It uses an open architecture so it can integrate and operate with legacy and emerging missile warning systems for rotary wing, tilt-rotor, and small fixed-wing aircraft across the military services. Northrop Grumman's partners on this solution are SELEX ES and Daylight Solutions.
