Boeing, Air Force demo airborne networking system

ARLINGTON, Va. Boeing and the U.S. Air Force recently completed developmental flight testing on the Boeing-developed Talon HATE airborne networking system, which enables secure communications between multiple aircraft and ground stations.

During flight testing at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada, Talon HATE pods mounted on two Eagle fighter aircraft aircraft enabled test pilots to share information through the ’s Link 16, Common , and Wideband Global SATCOM satellites. The tests also included validation of intraflight datalink network capabilities used by Raptor fighter jets.

Pilots using the HATE system can transmit information quickly between the F-15C and other Air Force aircraft and weapon systems to efficiently share information in real time.

Later this year, is slated to conduct additional tests with advanced , which aim at improving aircraft-targeting capabilities.
