Bell Helicopter Canada chooses Curtiss-Wright cockpit voice/flight-data technology

ASHBURN, Va. Curtiss-Wright Defense Solutions has been selected by Bell Helicopter Textron Canada Limited to provide the Curtiss-Wright cockpit voice and flight-recorder technology to upgrade the cockpit electronics in the Canadian Armed Forces’ fleet of Bell CH-146 Griffon multirole utility helicopters.

Under the terms of the agreement, Curtiss-Wright will provide Bell Helicopter Textron Canada with its cockpit voice and flight-recorder subsystem, made up of the Fortress 757 flight recorder and a cockpit area microphone; the technology also supports future expansion to support an optional health and usage-monitoring system.  The initial runs through mid-2018 and is valued at $1.88 million; shipments of the subsystem are set to begin in May 2017.

Manufacturing for the products covered by the Bell agreement will occur at the Curtiss-Wright facility in Christchurch, Dorset, U.K.
