Astrotech Space Operations wins NASA's commercial payload processing contract

TITUSVILLE, Fla. Officials at NASA selected Astrotech Space Operations, LLC, located at Titusville, Florida, to provide commercial payload processing services for agency missions launching from NASA?s Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.

Work under the contract includes providing facilities and services necessary to perform prelaunch processing of spacecraft and associated launch vehicle flight hardware of the completed payload stack before being delivered to the launch pad.

Payload processing typically commences three months prior to a launch date and requirements vary depending on the spacecraft and mission. NASA’s Launch Services Program at Kennedy will manage the contract.

The five-year, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract has a potential maximum value of $45 million. The period of performance begins April 13.
