Army, Navy air crews to receive critical situational-awareness technology

FALLS CHURCH, Va. Northrop Grumman Corp. has received a $124.7 million award from the U.S. government for production of AN/APR-39D(V)2 digital radar warning receiver and electronic warfare (EW) management systems for use by the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy.

The AN/APR-39D(V)2 is a small, lightweight digital warning receiver and EW management system that provides 360-degree coverage to enable flight crews to detect and identify radio frequency threats to an aircraft; as an EW management suite, the APR-39D(V)2 displays data from multiple onboard and can automatically initiate countermeasures to protect aircrews.

The radar and EW systems incorporate digital receiver technology, fast , and updated apertures for enhanced aircraft survivability in the modern combat environment.
