U.S. Navy completes airworthiness test with LRASM load on F/A-18E/F aircraft

NAVAL AIR SYSTEMS COMMAND, PATUXENT RIVER, Md. The F/A-18E/F completed its first phase of airworthiness testing using a mass simulator vehicle to evaluate in-flight structural loads of the Long Range Anti-Ship Missile (LRASM).

The initial test flight was conducted on November 3 at NAS Patuxtent River. The LRASM will become operational in 2018 and will provide long-range, anti-surface capabilities against maritime targets, officials say.
