WASHINGTON. Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems has been awarded a $15.7 million modification to a previously awarded U.S. Navy contract for AEGIS weapons system design requirements in support of Guided Missile Frigate (FFG(X)) class ships.

Under the terms of the Naval Sea Systems Command contract, Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems will modify the combat-management system under development and integrate increased combat system element capabilities.

FFG(X) is a multimission platform -- designed to operate in littoral and open-ocean environments -- that can handle antisubmarine, surface, electromagnetic maneuver, and air warfare.

Work on the contract will be done in Moorestown, New Jersey, with completion expected by September 2021.
