NETHERLANDS. AcQ Inducom has released a conduction cooled, ruggedized REDI (VITA 48) variant of the Medusa 3U OpenVPX Single Board Computer (SBC). The highly modular system is well-suited for a range of embedded applications, and brings together an optimized combination of performance and Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP).

The Medusa system features the T4240 QorIQ Processor from Freescale Semiconductor. The 12-core, 24-thread processor can run at up to 1.8 GHz and offers up to 216 GFlops. The Medusa also includes a Xilinx Kintex-7 user-programmable FPGA, along with dozens of customizable OpenVPX user I/O pins. The user-programmable FPGA offers flexibility to meet diverse design needs, and the fast interface (PCIe 4x) between the T4240 and the FPGA means the FPGA can be used for pre-processing, and video/image processing.
