5D Robotics showcases plug-and-play robotics technology at U.S. Army Robotics Demonstration

SAN DIEGO. 5D Robotics, Inc. demonstrated its Lighten the Load software kit plug-and-play technology at the U.S. Army Maneuver Center of Excellence Robotics Limited Demonstration on October 7-11, at Fort Benning, GA. The Lighten the Load technology is designed to carry warfighters’ equipment for them on long walking journeys.

At the San Diego demonstration (formerly known as the “Robot Rodeo”), 5D Robotics’ software kit ran successfully on five of the eight robotic systems exhibited. The demonstrations focused on robots that were able to autonomously detect hazards, lead/follow soldiers, and were able to navigate while avoiding obstacles. "Our soldiers are strong, but no one can move fast with 120 pounds on your back," says CEO of 5D Robotics, David Rowe.

The 5D Lighten the Load software kit has been integrated onto the following five robotic platforms: the HDT Robotics' Protector, Mesa Robotics' Armored Combat Engineer Robot (ACER), Northrop Grumman's Carry all Mechanized Equipment Landrover (CaMEL), the Segway SATSOR lighten the load robot, and the Synbotics Mission Unmanned Ground Vehicle Squad Support (MUGV-SS) developed by DRS Technologies.

5D Robotics will unveil its new remote hazard detection kit at the end of October at Picatinny Arsenal in New Jersey. For more information, visit www.5drobotics.com.
