NextComputing Adds Powerful New Notebook Server to NextBook Lineup Incorporating Intel Core 2 Extreme Processor
|
August 1, 2007, NextComputing, a high performance mobile computer manufacturer, introduce its most powerful notebook yet, the NextBook 17E. This latest model incorporates the Intel® Core™ 2 Duo, a dual core processor at 2.66GHz, and is upgradeable to the Intel® Core™ 2 Extreme processor, which boasts 2.93 GHz.
Since its inception, NextComputing has focused on high performance mobile computing adding the best processors, graphics performance, and I/O functionality to an impressive line up of portable form factors. This latest addition stays in line with NextComputing's focus on the power user.
“Our systems are not intended for your run of the mill notebook user. They are all server class, performing at the level of much larger, stationary computers in the convenience of a take along chassis. Designers, engineers, and marketing/sales professionals needing to demo high-end applications are typical end users for the NextBook 17E,” explains Bob Labadini, President and CTO of NextComputing.
The NextBook 17E can be configured with up to 4 GB DDR2-SDRAM, a 17 in. (1680x1050) resolution screen, PCI Express 16x graphics, (4) USB 2.0 ports, (1) DVI, (4) Audio jacks, 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet, up to (2) 160GB 7200RPM SATA drives, and DVDRW. Operating systems supported include Windows XP Pro, Vista, and Windows 2003 Server. Concurrent use and dual boot environments are also available.
The NextBook family of desktop replacement notebooks comprises NextComputing's value line. With systems starting at just over $3,000, high-performance mobile computing is within reach for users with the tightest budget constraints.
NextComputing is best known for inventing the flextop computer, a personal supercomputer about the size of a briefcase that houses the world's fastest processors by Intel and AMD. Intended for those applications strenuous enough to outgrow even the NextBook 17E, the company's family of NextDimension flextops rivals the most powerful standalone graphics workstations and rackmount servers. The NextBook line fills the gap between a typical laptop and a flextop, providing maximum performance in an inexpensive package.
About NextComputing: NextComputing is known in the HPC (High-Performance Computing) community as innovators for its engineering design talents, bringing to market the smallest, portable form factors with features capable of the most intensive applications.
