PrismTech Announces Availability of Open Source FACE 2.1 Transport Services Segment Reference Implementation

PrismTech

Boston, MA, USA – November 2, 2016 – PrismTech™, a global leader in software platforms for distributed systems, today announced the availability of its open source Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE™) 2.1 Transport Services Segment (TSS) reference implementation.

PrismTech has developed the open source FACE 2.1 TSS reference implementation for use with its Vortex™ OpenSplice™ product, the leading (open source and commercial) implementation of the Object Management Group®'s (OMG®) Data-Distribution Service™ (DDS™) standard. PrismTech’s open source TSS reference implementation provides a mapping-layer between the FACE Transport Services (TS) Application Programming Interface (API) and the standard OMG DDS API. The new TSS implementation supports both C++ and Java APIs and enables portable components to share and exchange data using DDS. PrismTech’s TSS reference implementation is being made available under GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL) v3 open source license terms.

PrismTech has a strong heritage of providing standards based, open architecture defense and aerospace solutions. PrismTech's Vortex OpenSplice is being used in numerous mission-critical defense and aerospace applications, ranging from radar processors to next-generation network-centric systems.

Vortex OpenSplice is part of PrismTech’s Vortex Intelligent Data Sharing Platform, a suite of solutions for real-time device, edge and cloud data sharing based on the DDS standard. Vortex is a crucial enabler for systems that have to reliably and securely deliver high volumes of data with stringent end-to-end qualities-of-service (QoS). Vortex plays a crucial role in many mission-critical systems by ensuring that the right information is delivered to the right place at the right time.

"We are delighted to be taking such as active role in the FACE Consortium by delivering this open source TSS reference implementation," said Andrew Foster, Product Marketing Manager, PrismTech. "We believe that PrismTech’s new TSS reference implementation showcases how the FACE community’s goals of software interoperability and portable application components can be achieved using DDS.”
