Turkish Air Force Buys Electronic Warfare Technology from Harris Corporation to Upgrade F-16s
Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS) has received a contract to provide electronic warfare (EW) equipment, spares and support services to the Turkish Air Force. The contract was issued by the U.S. Air Force Warner Robins Air Logistics Center at Robins Air Force Base, Georgia.
Harris will supply 21 of its AN/ALQ-211 Advanced Integrated Defensive Electronic Warfare Suite (AIDEWS) pod systems to protect the Turkish Air Force’s F-16 fighter jets from evolving electronic threats. The agreement also includes maintenance support equipment, spares, and engineering support.
“The Harris AIDEWS pod takes sophisticated electronic protection for agile platforms like the F-16 to new levels of performance and flexibility,” said Rich Sorelle, President, Harris Electronic Warfare Systems business unit. “The pod’s design allows F-16 users to move EW capabilities among their fleets to increase overall aircraft availability.”
