TEMPE, Ariz., July 31, 2012 – For LCD users running into poor performance, cost overruns, delivery delays, product obsolescence and other problems, the Perfect Match Program from Phoenix Display International (PDI), Inc. offers a recourse: an LCD cross-matching process where the company is able to duplicate virtually any display manufactured by another supplier and re-tool it in-house – quickly and at minimal cost – with optimal results. PDI has the ability to match almost all monochrome character, graphic and full-color TFT LCDs in performance, resolution, contrast, interface, etc., with additional customization and/or integration also available.
Problem areas that PDI can typically improve upon are price, obsolescence, quality, delivery and logistics, as well as offering additional customization and/or integration. Client Qualification: To keep product costs optimized, PDI only works within its volume guidelines, and not all LCD display projects or technologies will qualify.
Identify the Issue(s): As stated above, the most common issues with customers’ LCD modules are, in order: price, quality, delivery, performance and obsolescence. PDI starts with a technical evaluation of the customer’s current product and complaints, and, from that, creates a commercial proposal ensuring that the needs of the new display are addressed moving forward.
Commercial Proposal: PDI submits a formal proposal stating the improvements to some or all of the potential characteristics of the display.
Product Development: Phoenix Display starts the design process with the other supplier’s display specifications, then uses actual samples to match all of the softer attributes such as contrast, background color, backlight color, backlight brightness, backlight uniformity, contrast binning, cross talk, viewing angle, viewing direction, over-driven or under-driven states, and mechanical dimensions.
Qualification Submittal: The time and effort taken in the development stage greatly reduces the efforts required in the qualifications stage. Because of PDI’s rigorous and up-front testing, most often this is a plug-and-play process with no additional iterations or changes required.
