Micro Focus launches Studio and Server Enterprise Edition v6.0

Micro Focus — September 29, 2009

Micro Focus, a leading provider of enterprise application modernization, testing and management solutions, anticipates it will be able to help government agencies mitigate risks and reduce costs through simplified modernization of mission-critical applications. The release of Micro Focus Studio Enterprise Edition and Server Enterprise Edition v6.0 marks the next generation of Micro Focus’ industry leading Modernization and Migration Solutions.

As budget conservation remains a key issue facing federal CIOs, application modernization and migration is seen as an attractive, low-risk modernization strategy that allows government agencies to avoid spiraling mainframe costs without altering the business logic of core systems. This new release will help agencies significantly mitigate risk, as no code is altered, and dramatically reduce costs by modernizing and migrating enterprise applications from any proprietary environment, including the mainframe, to Windows, Unix, Linux or z/Linux. For the first time, Studio EE and Server EE will now feature a Microsoft Visual Studio-based IDE (Integrated Development Environment) and an ability to easily migrate data from mainframe databases to Microsoft SQL Server. The deployment products fully support 64-bit and are available on all Linux, Unix and Windows platforms.
