The VMS Series is a line of pre-configured rugged Vehicle Management systems from North Atlantic Industries. These systems support mil-aero vehicle management applications requiring high-density multi-channel programmable I/O and processing optimized for harsh SWaP-constrained environments. Off-the-shelf I/O and communication functions include LVDT/RVDT Measurement, High Current Output, Discrete I/O, AC Excitation Reference, ARINC 429/575, CANBus A/B and J1939 and Ethernet. Available in multiple configurations to meet your application demands, these vehicle management systems (VMS) function as the core control element within a redundant control system. The VMS Series is used to perform a multitude of sensor-driven functions on critical military platforms including manned and unmanned military aircraft, helicopters, shipboard vessels, autonomous missile systems and military ground vehicles.

COSA’s modular approach delivers more intelligence and functionality in a smaller footprint — all at a lower cost. As a result, NAI’s Vehicle Management Systems seamlessly integrate with NAI’s high-density intelligent multifunction modules, which contain the highest packaging density and greatest flexibility of any multifunction I/O board in the industry. The intelligent, multifunction embedded modules control local vehicle functions based on sensor data, which is delivered via flexible I/O and communication interfaces.

Additionally, these rugged systems, used in carrying out high-performance defense missions, meet stringent environmental requirements such as shock, vibration and extreme temperatures within SWaP-constrained environments. These attributes are inherent in NAI designs and offer customers readily-available, interoperable, field-proven systems and subsystems. NAI’s rugged vehicle management systems are designed to withstand -40 to +71C, and qualified to MIL-STD-1275D & MIL-STD-704A with 50ms holdup; MIL-STD-461F and MIL-STD-810G.
