The event founder, Adrian Broadbent, has a strong lineup of speakers from Airbus, Eurocontrol, DLR, Turkish Airlines, DG Move, EASA, among others. Keynote speakers include Gzim Ocakoglu of DG MOVE, European Commission; Maria Ruiz Algar, EASA ATM/ANS – SESAR Coordinator; and Ersan Yuksel, Senior Engineer, Turkish Airlines Technic.

Full discosure: I actually used to work with Adrian on another avionics event in Amsterdam and Munich as conference director before I left to return to the military space in 2011. There are quite a few familiar names in the program such as Lars Lindbergh of AvTech, George Romanski of Verocel, Marc Gatti of Thales, and Andreas Ritter of Lufthansa. All experts in their field, which promiss a strong program.

Adrian was also kind enough to invite me to moderate a panel on “Impact of Performance Based Navigation (PBN) from Alternate Perspective,” that looks at the impact PBN will have on airspace from the different perspectives, from the airline to the FSM supplier. Speakers include: Frédéric Belloir, Airbus Engineering – Systems, Navigation Systems Manager, Airbus; Dirk-Roger Schmitt, Business Manager, Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt, German Aerospace Center, DLR; Franca Pavlicevic, Head of Navigation & CNSS Research, EUROCONTROL; Vanessa Rullier, Sr Manager, European Affairs, EBAA; and Dorothee De Villele, FMS Engineering – Honeywell, France.

Two other key sessions are “Standardization & Certification” and “Open Architecture and COTS Technology.”

The “Standardization & Certification” session covers the latest approaches, analysis, and implications in compliance of DO-178B/C ED-12B/C. This session is chaired by Peter Green of EUROCONTROL. Speakers include: Christian Schleifer-Heingärtner, Secretary General, EUROCAE,, George Romanski, CEO, Verocel; Ozgur Babur Electronic Hardware Certification Group Manager, STM A.S.; and Andrew Coombes, Head of Marketing and Engineering Services, Rapita Systems.

The Open Architecture and COTS Technology session looks at the latest approaches for open architecture and component based architecture, as well as the design challenges and compliance issues. It is chaired by Lars Lindberg, President, AVTECH Sweden. Speakers include: Benoit Souyri, Software Architect – SOFTARC Product Design Authority, Thales Airborne Systems; Paul Parkinson, Principal Systems Architect, Wind River; Qin Zhu (Amy), Systems Certification & Airworthiness Engineer, Aviage Systems; and Mirko Jakovljevic, Senior Marketing Manager, TTTech.
